New Horizons Counseling Ministry

About New Horizons Counseling
New Horizons Counseling at SunRise United Methodist Church offers a Christ-centered approach to healing and wholeness. The goal of the ministry is to help people achieve more satisfying and productive lives in the context of their family, church, community and workplace.

At New Horizons Counseling, clients will find a loving, Christian environment that is professional, confidential and respectful of their personal life journey.

Sharon L. Bass, LPC, holds a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Arts from James Madison University, and a Master's degree in Professional Counseling from Lindenwood University. She is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors.

Why Christian Counseling?
At SunRise United Methodist Church, we believe all things can be done through Christ who strengthens us. We also believe that God supplies our needs according to His richness in glory. God has given us a tool that can be used to resolve our everyday challenges. The tool needed is the Word of God. However, many people do not know how to apply Biblical principles, and stand in the authority that Christ has given them. New Horizons Counseling can help believers stand in that authority, and help non-believers understand the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Counseling can be helpful in addressing:
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Pre-marital concerns
• Marital difficulties
• Difficulties experienced in relationship to divorce, re-marriage and blended families
• Career concerns
• Financial difficulties
• Loss and grief
• Trauma
• Abuse
• Family conflict
